I can safely say I'm in my dark mafia romance era, and Mila Finelli's Mafia Target was perfect for that! This book was a great mixture of mystery, action, and steamy romance. Watching Alessio and Giulio fall for each other in such an unconventional way was absolutely perfect! This is my first Mila Finelli read, and it's a standalone MM mafia romance with a HEA and two gorgeous, dangerous Italian men! This Mafia romance is about a larger than life, over confident, sexy AF Mafia Capo Dante Salvatore. He's in trouble with the law and has hired his good friend Cosima's sister as one of his lawyers. Elena Lomardi lives and breathes her job in the court room. After going through a heart breaking divorce Elena has turned to "Ice". She definitely finds Dante attractive but gives him a very cool shoulder and a hard time. The suspense and intrigue was constant, the angst penetrating, the fire in Dante's eyes scalding, just everything made this book unstoppable! I could not put it down!! I think I'll also settle for a 3.5 for this one. I look forward to get to Giulio's book at some point he's one of my favorite characters from the series.

Publication Order of Anthologies

Readers found they were entertained and invested the entire way through, and liked seeing Francesca attempt to fight against becoming a mafia wife since her mom detested that role herself and never wanted that for any of her daughters. Fausto starts out a major asshole, but does have a nice redemption arc over the course of this novel, particularly around Giullo, his son.

Elena not being the bad bitch lawyer I LOVED in the first part. Like she was feeling like a side character straight out of another book. Didn't recognize her from the first book. Years of work, my family, and almost my life—all stolen from me. For four years I rebuilt my empire, plotting in secret, planning to make him suffer as I suffered. What a powerfully emotive and grippingly suspenseful finale to perhaps the most epic love story from Giana Darling to date! Lush with emotions, enthralling and passionate from beginning to end, I never wanted Elena and Dante’s story to end. Yet I was desperate to know just how they’d find their HEA. Just what happens when two self-proclaimed villains fall in love? They become each other’s heroes. I also planned to ask Nic for a laptop so I could do my own digging. But I also didn’t want to leave Giulio’s side." Unsurprisingly, I liked Enzo much more than Fausto and I think that's because Enzo had multiple layers to him and he was such a complex character and that's what I loved. I didn't have to agree with his actions and he was cruel to Gia during many scenes in the book, but I kind of understood why he acted that way.

Let’s start from that the potential in this book was huge, seriously. I mean, a runaway mafia heir who escaped because his sexuality wasn’t accepted in his position and "the best" assassin in Europe who was supposed to kill him, but instead everyone know how it ends.

Dante is my new book boyfriend. He is 100% all alpha male, morally gray, and possessive, but is also genuine, caring, and protective. The way that he is with Elena just makes me swoon🖤❤️🖤.I can’t let her distract me, no matter how much I want her. No matter the fire that burns hot between us. I’ll have her—and then I’ll break her. But again, it's a Mafia romance and there are a lot of questionable actions in it. These are not men you would willingly look for in real life, if I met either Enzo or Fausto in real life I'd be running the other way, fly to another country and change my name and nationality. You didn't know how you got here, one moment you were exploring an old studio and the next you were in a sentient house with a talking puppet. As strange as it all is to process, maybe it'll all be okay, he seems friendly.
