About this deal

This product is suitable as a localised ‘problem solver’ for cold external walls and is not recommended for use in fire escape routes inside your home unless the surface is further treated with a fire retardant covering. Do not go around external corners just cut into them as they will not be straight. What happens is the next wall the Thermal Liner will not be straight and this will cause problems when butt joining the product.

It looks like the stuff I replaced for someone recently. It didn't provide any noticeable difference to the room at all. Apparently it was quite expensive when you they had to buy the special adhesive and then the insulated layer product. The one I removed also had to be filled where the joints but up and didn't look good where it met the window reveal. We'd not recommend putting ceramic tiles over the thermal liner. If you want to hang ceramic tiles over the thermal liner, please use the Professional Insulation Panels instead. I would also think that, once it's adhered properly on that wall, it ain't going to shift easily. So, follow the instructions carefully, and allow PLENTY of time to ensure the proper adhesive has fully set. The wall or ceiling surface warms up much faster too thus reducing cold air currents and draughts that can make occupants feel cold – most of us have experienced standing near a cold window in a warm room and still feeling cold. Once the room is up to temperature, KV600 carries on working providing significant reductions in energy lost through the surfaceThis product should not be used in isolation for projects such as new builds and extensions where Building Regulations are applicable. If used as part of a system that both adds to the insulation value and protects the surface from fire it may be compliant but expert advice should be sought. If you do not intend to cover the product with fibreliner or similar then any small gaps at seams and corners can be filled and sanded prior to painting the surface directly with standard emulsion paint. Use a good quality, flexible non shrinking filler.

You probably need to look at slightly larger render companies to do the work as they are more likely to have previous experience. Typical paste consumption guide : 5kg of adhesive per roll, The adhesive consumption indication is for guidance only, on walls in good condition less paste may be required whereas on damaged or textured walls and surfaces that are not vertical, more paste may be required. Make sure you always apply the adhesive with a medium pile roller and use a brush for the corners, top and Bottom.

Mould Prevention - Thermal Liner allows walls to breathe and raises the room temperature meaning it will help to combat mould growth This is an important consideration, as it means that the thermal liner won't trap moisture in the walls, and prevents the fear of potential damp and mold problems. With rising energy costs the vast majority of us are looking for ways to save money: KV600 offers a cost effective, practical way to save energy in your home as well as helping to create a cosier environment. It has been approved by the Energy Saving Trust because of its thermal efficiency and energy saving properties. I've personally not used it as a retrofit solution(only new build) so I can't give an idea of costs (and I would be wary of a cost per m2 as it will vary hugely depending on the complexity of the job), I have however seen it used successfully and attractively by others so it may well be a possible and practical solution.Retro fitted cavity wall insulation doesn't have this and can in some cases act as a bridge for penetrating water to the inner leaf of the wall causing damp, the wet cavity can also lead to premature corrosion of wall ties. This is more likely on a Victorian cavity wall than a larger modern cavity wall. Lots of the companies that put the CWI in also don't have the best reputations. I don't know about the wallboard you are asking about but logically in insulation terms it's likely to little difference and it's more likely a psychological effect. Allow at least 24 hours for drying, longer if conditions are especially humid or cold. Wherever possible we also recommend that the thermal liner is allowed to dry out naturally and therefore the heating is turned off whilst the adhesive dries out. However if temperatures are likely to drop below 10°c/50°F it is advisable that low level heating is used to ensure that the adhesive can cure effectively.

A. Two main reasons, 1) It makes it much easier to achieve a nice neat finish with minimal filling and sanding 2) It helps protect your investment from damage creating a good base for paint or decorative wallpaper at the same time. Once this is done let dry for 24 hours at normal room temperature - no heating on and windows open if possible.

It begins to work from the moment the heating is turned on and is especially effective on walls where the other side is exposed to the elements or an unheated room. You can however use a normal Stanley knife but make sure you have loads of spare blades as you will need them. Use only paste-the-wall wallcoverings if you are planning to overhang the KV600 with another liner**.
