Some of the tallest stills of any island distillery are used to distil the spirit, adding to the purity of the whisky.

Generally I love Jura for its smooth brandy-like velvetty flavour, I an not entirely convinced by this particular permutation. Sweet caramelised nuts, juicy tropical fruits, buttery vanilla, crisp spiced apple with fragrant cinnamon and oak char. A single malt expression was launched in 1974, and the range grew steadily over the years, In 2018, Jura went through a considerable revamp, and introduced a new range of whiskies with a lightly smoky character. The whisky was laid down in a single Refill Hogshead, patiently maturing for 30 years, before being bottled in Febuary 2023.Single malt distilleries often take pride in their craftsmanship and their adherence to traditional production methods. It has the subtle smoke characteristic of Jura's excellent Island single malts, with robust vanilla and an intense kick of sherried sweetness underneath. Delmé-Evans was most involved with Jura, however,remaining on the board until his retirement in 1975. This exceptional single malt matures in American white oak ex-bourbon and hand-selected American Rye barrels, imparting depth and complexity. Just 8 miles long, Jura's single track road stretches from the island's ferry port in the West, right up to the Northeast of our island.
