About this deal

With Neil Sheasby and Neil Jones’ working relationship heading into it’s 25th year, this feature length documentary film looks back and celebrates the journey of the band Stone Foundation, with lots of rare and previously unseen footage from early demos to the latest release “Outside Looking In”. A few of his novels – Salem’s Lot, The Stand, Pet Semetary and IT – became firm favourites and recently I have taken to listening to them all over again in the form of audiobooks.

Georgie is unable to stop the boat from sailing down the storm drain, but encounters a strange clown in the drain who introduces himself as Pennywise.

It’s a similar reason as to why King chose the clown in the first place – it subverts our expectations and plays with something that may have been linked to a strong and happy memory from our childhood (when I think of clowns I would rather remember Dumbo than IT! This movie is pretty good, while it is drawn out in parts and tended to drag on and on, it was intelligent and enjoyable. The worries, the fears of bullying, the drudgery of housework, and the adventure of hanging with your friends is perfectly captured by King and fairly well recreated by the filmmakers.

Finally, the most controversial scene in the book which, thankfully fails to make it into either the miniseries or the new film, comes toward the climax of the book. In Derry, Maine, in 1960, Bill Denbrough gives his younger brother Georgie a paper sailboat to take out onto the street to sail in the gutter. However, the show was careful to show the consequences of such lifetsyle choices and searingly touched on suicide, unwanted pregnancies, apathy and disillusionment. Although this creature manifests itself in the form of their greatest fears – The Mummy, a Werewolf, a giant bird etc – the one constant is that its default physical form is that of a clown – Pennywise the Clown to be exact. It" is about an alien entity who disguises itself in whatever form scares or fears the children of Derry the most, a lot of the time it resembles a clown form - to trick the kids. In 1990, a group of seven childhood friends, known as The Losers Club, reunite to combat a mysterious threat which they had thought was long since buried. The group of children must come together to figure out who Pennywise is, why he has invaded their hometown and which child he will haunt next - to stop the demonic clown once and for all.

I would also recommend the miniseries if only because I think that Tim Curry’s performance is outstanding and, it must be said, fairly iconic.

They also deduce that the creature, which they dub "It" since it is not human and has no gender, assumes the appearance of what they fear. Henry, his hair whitened from fright and driven insane from seeing It's "Deadlights", later emerges from the sewers and is institutionalized when he takes credit for murdering his friends, as well as It's previous victims. I won’t go into detail as I don’t want to spoil it and it does make sense in an odd kind of way but it is wholly unnecessary. In raw and candid detail, Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his planned final London shows.
