About this deal

When testing the printer, I successfully printed on most of Epson’s recommended photo papers, including Premium Glossy, Premium Luster, Semigloss Photo Paper, Premium Matte and Velvet Fine Art. The bottles and tanks have been well designed to make it difficult to mess this up, although if you did pour the wrong ink into the wrong tank, it’ll take a long time to purge the tanks and get back to printing normally again. I don't anticipate needing any new ink for a while, and I've already made quite a few prints in a range of sizes, including about 50 11x14 prints. The Epson ET-8550 is great for printing black-and-white documents as it produces high-quality prints at a decent pace, and its ink tank yields thousands of pages, making it very cost-effective for high-volume printing. The Epson EcoTank ET-8550 supports media sizes up to and incuding A3+, which is slightly larger than standard A3.

However, as much as I like my SureColor P800 printer, I don't always require that level of performance. The user interface was designed by children eg if you go to turn off the printer it has usually gone to sleep so you have to wake it up before you can turn it off, then you press the off button and the stupid screen says oh do you want to turn me off? It’s a wide format printer, which means it can take paper up to A3+ in size, and it has two paper trays and a rear feed, so you can effectively have three types of paper loaded and ready to print on, depending on what kind of project you’re working on.For example, "Standard Quality" for matte paper is lower resolution than "Standard Quality" for Velvet Fine Art. My advice would be to play around with all three modes, and see if you can tell any appreciable difference in your prints. The optimised resolution is good and high at 5,760 x 1,400 dpi with 180 nozzles per colour and 360 black nozzles putting together very finely detailed pictures.

I recently purchased an Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 printer to be able to make prints more affordably, and I've been extremely impressed with the printer. If it has gone to sleep sending it a document to print does not wake it up, you have to walk to the printer wake it up then send the document! The cost-per-print is remarkably low because a full tank lasts a long time, and replacement ink is relatively inexpensive. With our forward-thinking Micro Piezo heat-free technology, you can enjoy consistent high-speed printing, with greatly reduced energy consumption and less need for replacement parts.

The Fujifilm XF 23mm F2 R WR delivers a 35mm full-frame equivalent field of view and stands out due to its small size and weather-resistant build.

Please Note: To use this updater, your Epson product must be turned on and connected to a computer with Internet access. There’s no Bluetooth or NFC, but there is an SD Card slot alongside a front USB Host port behind that front flap. And those prints will cost significantly less than those of the dedicated photo printers I’ve been reviewing for the past 30 years.
